Deletion Of The Links Page!

This morning I deleted the links page that used to form part of this site menu. All the links can now be seen to the right of this news section. This is so that linked sites can be more readily accessed. I also thought the menu was becoming too cluttered and so decided to remove some of the pages that did not require a whole space of their own.

Young Fans Get Chance to Inteview JK Rowling

Jo Rowling has granted her only UK TV interview to one young fan amongst seventy children from around the world. The lucky winners will be invited to Edinburgh Castle to meet the author and their one-on-one interview will be broadcast on ITV1.

A spokesperson said: "It's a TV interview that everyone wants but only one child in the UK will actually get. We will give them all the training and help they need to ensure it's a must-see TV event and with their love of all things Harry Potter we are sure they will have dozens of burning questions to put to the author."

Pre-Order Records Broken!

Advance orders for the HBP have apparently outnumbered pre-orders for previous books in the series. Tesco.com director said: “No other book can match the Harry Potter series for popularity with our customers and we are expecting the sixth to break all records. Pre-orders are already at an all-time high and this is only going to increase as we get closer to the day the embargo is lifted.”

News of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince release date!

Alas! A date for the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been set! Fans of the teenage wizard and his pals will be able to get their hands on a copy of the long awaited book on the 16th July 2005! Although this seems too long to wait, fans worldwide are increasingly aware that once this book has been released, only one more installment of the series remains to be revealed. On a brighter note, JKR seems exceptionally happy with the book and will almost certainly be revealing more snippets of information about 'six' before the long anticipated release date arrives.

JKR in Edinburgh

Jo Rowling revealed to eager fans at the Edinburgh Book Festival that there are two questions they should be contemplating the answer to in the period between the fifth and sixth books. Perhaps tired of the endless rumours about the next installment of the successful series, particularly one that encouraged the idea that the next book was to be called "Harry Potter and the Pillar of Storge", JKR gave her fans something to think about during the remaining time leading up to the release of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". Jo said:

"There are two questions that I have never been asked but that I should have been asked, if you know what I mean. If you want to speculate on anything, you should speculate on these two things, which will point you in the right direction. The first question that I have never been asked—it has probably been asked in a chatroom but no one has ever asked me—is, “Why didn’t Voldemort die?” Not, “Why did Harry live?” but, “Why didn’t Voldemort die?” The killing curse rebounded, so he should have died. Why didn’t he? At the end of Goblet of Fire he says that one or more of the steps that he took enabled him to survive. You should be wondering what he did to make sure that he did not die—I will put it that way. I don’t think that it is guessable. It may be—someone could guess it—but you should be asking yourself that question, particularly now that you know about the prophesy. I’d better stop there or I will really incriminate myself. The other question that I am surprised no one has asked me since Phoenix came out—I thought that people would—is why Dumbledore did not kill or try to kill Voldemort in the scene in the ministry. I know that I am giving a lot away to people who have not read the book. Although Dumbledore gives a kind of reason to Voldemort, it is not the real reason. When I mentioned that question to my husband—I told Neil that I was going to mention it to you—he said that it was because Dumbledore knows that there are two more books to come. As you can see, we are on the same literary wavelength. [Laughter]. That is not the answer; Dumbledore knows something slightly more profound than that. If you want to wonder about anything, I would advise you to concentrate on those two questions. That might take you a little bit further."

No Contract for Chris?

Chris Rankin, who plays Percy Weasley,  recently revealed that he has not yet been contacted about being in Goblet of Fire:

Having been speaking to my agent about why I've not heard anything from Warner Brothers re: Goblet of Fire, they've been making some enquiries into the legal side of not being used on the film, when I've been contracted to it... Turns out that my contract states that I was contracted to appear in Prisoner of Azkaban +1 more HP film - it doesn't have to be the next in the series (as we'd all presumed) - what this basically means is that we're unlikely to be seeing Percy in Goblet of Fire, but that doesn't mean that he won't be in another film along the lines of the series... but we might not!
